Open Pellucis in Word.

Your firm's Microsoft 365 administrator adds Pellucis to Word for the appraisers who will use it. Your firm's key comes from Pellucis.

Save the Pellucis add-in file

The file is for a Mac, or for looking at the pane in a browser. It saves as Pellucis-for-Word.xml. Your administrator does not need it: their route takes a link.

Your firm's Microsoft 365 administrator · five minutes of clicking, then a wait

Start here: your firm's administrator adds Pellucis to Word.

Word on the desktop only accepts an add-in that arrives through your firm's Microsoft 365 admin page, so this is a step for the person who runs it. Your firm's key comes from Pellucis. If you run your own Microsoft 365, you are your own administrator and can do this yourself. Microsoft then takes its own time to show it.

  1. Go to admin.microsoft.com and sign in. You need to be a Global admin or an Exchange admin on the account. If you bought your own Microsoft 365, that is you.

  2. In the left menu, choose Settings, then Integrated apps.

  3. Select Upload custom apps.

  4. For App type, choose Office Add-in.

  5. Choose the option to provide a link rather than a file, paste https://www.pellucis.com/office/manifest.word.xml, and select Validate.

  6. Select Next, then Add users. Choose Specific users/groups and add the people who will use it, Just me to try it yourself, or Entire organization for the whole office.

  7. Select Next through the permissions page, then Finish deployment.

  8. Now wait. Microsoft says an add-in deployed this way can take 24 to 72 hours to appear on the ribbon. Nothing has gone wrong in that time, and there is no way to hurry it.

If your firm has an IT person or an outside provider who runs your Microsoft 365, send them the link in step five. It is the only thing they need.

For the pilot, deploy it to the appraisers who will use it. Pellucis gives your firm its key separately.

One thing to check before you start. This route needs a Microsoft 365 plan that includes email — Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, or an Enterprise plan. If your subscription is Microsoft 365 Apps for business, which is the Office programs without the mailbox, Microsoft does not offer this route at all. Word in your browser still works, and so does a Mac. You can see which plan you have at admin.microsoft.com under Billing → Your products.

Word on a Mac · about three minutes

On a Mac, it is one folder.

  1. Save the Pellucis add-in file using the button at the top of this page.

  2. Open Finder and press Cmd+Shift+G.

  3. Paste this and press Return: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef. If the last folder is not there, create it and open it.

  4. Drag the file you saved into that folder.

  5. Open Word, or close and reopen it if it was already running, then open a report.

  6. On the Home tab, select Add-ins, then select Pellucis. On some versions a Pellucis button appears on the Home tab directly — if you see one, that is it.

For Excel on a Mac the folder is the same with com.microsoft.Excel in place of com.microsoft.Word.

Word for the web · about two minutes

To look at it in a browser first.

This adds the pane to Word for the web in one browser, for you alone. It is a way to see the pane, not the way a firm installs it: for your firm's reports, use the administrator's route above, and the key your firm was given.

  1. Save the Pellucis add-in file using the button above.

  2. Go to office.com, sign in, and open your report in Word.

  3. On the Home tab, select Add-ins.

  4. In the panel that opens, select More Settings.

  5. Select Upload My Add-in.

  6. Select Browse, choose the file you saved, then select Upload.

  7. Pellucis opens in a panel on the right of your report. The first time it opens it asks for your firm's key. Where a key comes from is further down this page. Paste it in, and you can run the CUSPAP 2026 review.

Word for the web remembers this in the browser you used. If you clear your browsing data or move to a different browser, add it again — it is the same two minutes.

Outlook and Excel

Outlook

Reads the thread you have open and drafts a reply grounded in your file. It drafts; you send. Needs a work or school Microsoft 365 account — it does not work on a personal outlook.com mailbox.

  1. Save the Outlook file: Pellucis for Outlook

  2. Go to aka.ms/olksideload. Outlook opens in your browser and an Add-Ins for Outlook box appears after a few seconds.

  3. Select My add-ins.

  4. Scroll to Custom Addins at the bottom, select Add a custom add-in, then Add from File.

  5. Choose the file you saved and accept the prompts.

  6. Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows show it within a minute or two. The older Outlook for Windows can take up to 24 hours — that is Microsoft's caching, not a fault.

Excel

Reads the comparables chart from the workbook you have open and reconciles it against the report. Fill this chart shows its plan first, then fills the chart's input cells from cited comps when you press Write, as values; the firm's formulas compute the rest, and each comparable's adjusted value and rate are checked against Pellucis's own figures to the cent. Until your firm's comps are in the Vault, the comps it fills are made-up samples. Save the Excel file — Pellucis for Excel — then install it the same way as Word: Home → Add-ins → More Settings → Upload My Add-in.

One more step · about thirty seconds

Your firm's key.

The first time the Pellucis panel opens in Word it asks for your firm's key. Your firm's key comes from Pellucis, under your firm's agreement: ask your firm's administrator for it.

Where your firm's key comes from

Pellucis sets up your firm's workspace when your firm signs on, and issues your firm's key with it. The same key opens the workspace on the web and the Pellucis panel in Word.

If your firm's key is lost, ask Pellucis for a new one.

If nothing appears

Nothing changed on the ribbon

In Word for the web, close the tab and open your report again. On the Windows desktop, it is almost always the wait — Microsoft takes 24 to 72 hours after your admin page says the deployment finished.

The panel opens but stays empty

That is usually Office holding an old copy. In Word on Windows: File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Add-in Catalogs, tick Next time Office starts, clear all previously-started web add-ins cache, select OK, then close and reopen Word.

Your firm has switched custom add-ins off

Some organisations turn off the ability to add your own add-ins. If the Upload My Add-in option is missing entirely, that is what has happened, and only your Microsoft 365 administrator can change it.
